To economically transport recyclables over long distances after the first stage of processing, they are compressed into bales of various sizes. After transport, these bales need to be loosened to feed the recyclables into subsequent processing steps. Therefore, errors at the beginning of the processing negatively impact the efficiency of the entire process. The Bale Breaker developed by Matthiessen enables the economical processing of recyclables and provides a perfect start for subsequent work.
By adjusting the bunker lengths and the ability to quickly and easily replace all wear parts such as ripping tines, these machines ensure high flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The Bale Breakers can be customized to meet the specific needs and requirements of each project, making them particularly suitable for differently wired or film-wrapped bales.
The Matthiessen Bale Breaker combines the functions of stocking, dewiring bales, separating, and metering of the previously compressed material. The bales are placed on the chain belt conveyor by a forklift for instance, from the side or the back. This conveyor transports the bales to the tearing rotor.
The speed is controlled by a frequency converter. An ultrasonic sensor determines the height of the bale. The hold-down device moves just above the surface of the bale, ensuring that the bale does not start to jump uncontrollably when the rotor tines engage.
As the tines strike into the bale, the wires are cracked, the bale is broken down, and the product is separated and metered onto the subsequent takeaway belt. The wires can then be separated from the product stream using overhead magnets for example.
