Matthiessen bale breakers enables efficient and safe processing of various types of bales.

Customized individual solutions can be offered for bales with or without wiring.
Some of our customers work with bales tied with cross and/or parallel wiring. By making certain changes to the geometry of the rotor tines, it is possible for us to respond to the various tasks.
The bunker sizes can be individually adapted. Of course, all wearing parts, such as the ripping tines, are screwable and can be replaced very quickly and easily if necessary.
 
Matthiessen Bale Breaker BAIII for the reliable loosening of bale material
After dewiring or dewrapping the bale, it is loaded into the feeding bunker by forklift or conveyor belt. This is equipped with a robust speed controlled chain belt. The traverses on the chain belt move the bales with a constant speed forward to the ripping rotor.
Before the bale can be fed to the feeding bunker, it has to be freed from wires or wrapped foil. Now the bale material is added to the bunker from the side or from the rear by forklift or conbeyor belt. To guarantee an even supply of the products to the ripping rotor, the chain belt is equipped with a frequency converter for speed adjustment. The ripping tines of the rotor hit into the pressed bale and loosen it mostly. The not yet sufficiently loosened material is taken over the rotor and through the especially developed ripper comb, where the leftover recycables are pulled through and thereby getting scattered. The comb can vary in position by hydraulic and thus can be adapted to different task products.
Due to this flexibility and adjustment options, a very good loosening of the recycable product is given.
Upgraded with some new features, a machine has been designed, which has a significantly higher throughput, even though to reduced working steps.
Matthiessen BAIII-DD Bale Breaker with integrated dewiring for more safety at the workplace
Work safety has the highest priority today. To release bales from wires is a dangerous step when it needs to be done manually. Safety clothing can protect employees only conditionally from serious accidents. With the advanced BAIII as “ Double Drive “ – variant BAIII-DD Matthiessen has developed a Bale Breaker, in which this accident-prone manual dewiring is no longer necessary.
The same procedure as mentioned at the BAIII, the bale is loaded by forklift or conveyor belt into the feeding bunker. The stable designed chain belt conveyor moves the bale forward to the ripping rotor. An integrated holding-down device in the bunker moves automatically close on the bale before reaching the rotor. Ultrasonic sensors scan the exact height of the bale and determine the position of the holding-down device. This fixes the bale and keeps it in ­position while the ripping tines of the rotor hit into the bale. The tines break the wires. The result is an evenly loosened bale. In this process the wires are not being crushed. They are thrown over the rotor to the subsequent conveyor belt. By using a magnet the wire can be separated as one part from the loosened material flow.
